Nagananda is a Doctor of Philosophy in Botany from Karpagam University, Coimbatore. He has rich experience in herbal product development and has several awards to his credit, one of the most notable being the Askel Love prize for best original research paper. His expertise spans across various domains like traditional and folklore medicine, Plant Tissue culture and herbal formulations. Under the guidance of Prof. Ananda Rao, Orchidologist and former president “The Orchid Society of Karnataka” Nagananda was instrumental in establishing an open air orchidarium in Lalbhag , where he has collected numerous orchids from the Western Ghats and developed a strong database on the medicinal aspect of orchids. He currently heads the Technology division at Nuvohelix Bioinnovations Pvt. Ltd. He is also a trained Hindustani and Carnatic musician .
